Biblical "Poor Widow's Mite" coin. Bronze prutah, coin type mentioned in the Bible. Minted during the 1st Century BC but circulated throughout Judaea during the time of Christ.

A coin depicting a wheel with 8 ray-like spokes, Hebrew inscription "Yehonatan the King" on one side, and a Seleucid anchor, with Greek "BASILEWS ALEXANDPOY" on the other. Ref: Hendin 1150 for type. Coin diameter 15 mm, with gorgeous detail and dark brassy tone. Encapsulated and graded Extremely Fine by NGC! Archival slab measures 3.125" x 2.125" x 0.375”.

** Referred to in the Gospel of Luke 21:1-4: "And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had."
